I commiserate, but global climate change means more *extremes* of weather.
Have you had any response, other than the 4 comments on your post, about the knitting retreat? I googled a few months ago looking for that sort of thing in UK for this year and found zilch. I have lots of holidays left this year to use up. I will definitely keep an eye out for you setting something up, I just cant guarantee my attendance so far in advance.
How about sending your idea to Brenda Dayne of Cast on podcast. She would certainly give it airtime and you may get the word out to more UK people that way (she's in Wales).
Another idea - would be more time consuming - email or comment on all the members of the UK knitters ring.
