dear lorna,
this is surreal, like so many aspects of the modern world. presumably the telephone is useless? i had tayside threatening me with the bailiffs recently because i wouldn't pay 10 % extra on our council tax where the prob was that they hadn't activated the dir deb i had sent them, and, to my astonishment, straightened it out by telephone.

What a crazy situation. And congratulations on such a measured, civil complaint letter. Not an easy thing to achieve when one's dander is up.
